POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary duties of the Ski Patrol are to provide safety, first aid and rescue services for all guests and employees of Marble Mountain Resort. Candidates must exhibit strong skiing or snowboarding skills.

The ideal candidate should be ready to mentor all outdoor operations team members, increase quality of customer service for the outdoor product and to help implement best practices across all levels. We look to this individual to help us remain compliant, efficient and profitable during the course of business. This is not a unionized position and the individual will work under the Marble Mountain Development Corporation protocols. The Outside Operations Manager will report to the General Manager of the Resort.

DUTIES:
  • Daily mountain risk management including, but not limited to maintenance of trail signage, fencing, hazard marking and mitigation, general mountain clean-up, administration of first aid, perform mountain rescue and enforce / ensure compliance of Marble Mountain Resort Rules and Regulations, and the Alpine Responsibility Code.
  • Keep records and complete reports in the prescribed manner.
  • Strive to exceed expectations and create lasting memories for guests and staff.
  • Greet and serve guests in a professional and friendly manner. Build a rapport by asking questions and initiating conversation. Assist with all reasonable requests.
  • Be familiar with all products such as lift tickets and passes, Marble Villa, Rentals. Technical aspects of the Resort, and upcoming events; effectively communicate this knowledge to guests using positive language.
  • Advise guests of any activities happening both at the resort and in the surrounding areas.
  • Maintain organization / cleanliness of all areas including the Ski Patrol Clinic and Locker Room.
  • All members of the patrol team must attend and successfully complete the annual Ski Patrol Training including CPR, Lift Evacuation and Toboggan Handling.  Additionally, participate in any ongoing training throughout the ski season to ensure skills are maintained.
  • Be a team player will all employees and volunteers at Marble Mountain Resort; assist co-workers in the execution of their duties if required an able. We work as a team at Marble Mountain and no employee is above helping their teammates if they have the time and ability to do so.
  • Responsible for following all health and safety legislative guidelines and safe work practices in the prescribed manner and shall report unsafe working conditions.
  • Co-operate with employer, co-workers, OH&S committee/worker health and safety representative/workplace health and safety designate, and anyone exercising a duty imposed under OH&S legislation.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Certified Advanced Medical Responder by CSP.
  • Oxygen administration / AED / HCP / CPR certified.
  • Able to ski or snowboard to Advanced or Expert level of skiing or snowboarding.
  • Previous advanced training in first aid is an asset.
  • Previous Ski Patrol experience an asset.
  • Previous Rope Rescue experience an asset.
  • Previous Search and Rescue experience an asset.
  • A self-starter with ability to facilitate and coordinate day to day operations.
  • Proven organizational and motivational skills.
  • Passion for providing outstanding guest service.
  • Positive and friendly attitude.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to adjust and readily adapt to changing priorities. Responsibilities frequently require an adjusted work schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet resort operating demands.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Outside, all weather conditions including sub-zero temperatures, at a premier Ski Resort.

WAGE:

As per the Collective Agreement
