How We Assist Individuals with Disabilities

Our adaptive ski and snowboard program is tailored to meet the unique needs of each participant. We provide specialized equipment and trained instructors to help individuals with:
  • Physical Disabilities – Using sit-skis, outriggers, or 4-track equipment, we assist
individuals with mobility challenges to ski independently or with guided support.
  • Visual Impairments – Our trained instructors act as guides, providing verbal and physical cues to help visually impaired skiers navigate the slopes safely.
  • Cognitive and Developmental Disabilities – We use structured lessons with clear instructions, visual cues, and personalized support to create a positive learning experience.

What is a Sit-Ski?

A sit-ski is an adaptive piece of equipment designed for individuals with mobility impairments. It consists of a molded seat attached to a single ski or dual skis, allowing riders to control their movement using their upper body and outriggers. Sit-skis enable individuals with physical disabilities to experience the freedom and excitement of skiing.

What is 4-Track Skiing?

4-track skiing is an adaptive technique for individuals who have difficulty with balance or strength but can stand with assistance. It involves:
  • Two skis (regular alpine skis)
  • Two outriggers (forearm crutches with ski tips) for added balance and stability

This setup is ideal for individuals with conditions such as cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, or lower-body weakness.

What are Outriggers?

Outriggers are adaptive ski poles with small skis attached at the bottom. They provide additional support and balance for standing skiers and assist sit-skiers in steering and stopping. Outriggers help skiers maintain control and stability on various terrains.

Who Can Participate?

  • Adaptive lessons are designed for individuals with disabilities who want to learn or improve their skiing or snowboarding skills.
  • Specialized equipment, including sit-skis, 4-track setups, and outriggers, are included.
  • No prior experience is necessary.
